Disco Bambino explores the history, aesthetics, and enduring influence of Italian disco through conversation and music. The evening begins with a conversation between Giuseppe Savoni, aka Disco Bambino, and National Sawdust's Siobahn Sung, reflecting on the extraordinary creative energy that shaped Italian music and popular culture from the ‘70s and ‘80s. After the conversation, Disco Bambino will transport us to the Mediterranean coast with a set that captures the imagination, sophistication, and freedom that defined the period. Drawing from his archives and years of research into Italian and Italo Disco, Disco Bambino will uncover the era’s forgotten gems and reintroduce Italian disco not simply as a genre, but as a rich cultural movement shaped by experimentation, style, and a uniquely Italian vision of modernity. Get on the dancefloor and experience the music the way it was meant to be heard: through dancing!

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

This is a standing room only performance. If you require accessibility accommodations, please email boxoffice@nationalsawdust.org.

ABOUT DISCO BAMBINO

Giuseppe Savoni, aka Disco Bambino, is an Italian disco music scholar, producer, DJ, and vinyl collector, and one of the key figures behind the global resurgence of Italian disco culture. Working across the United States and Europe, his work has been featured in Vogue, The Guardian, Vanity Fair, and Saturday Night Live.

Born in Puglia, Italy, and now based in New York, Savoni’s relationship with disco began early, when his babysitters would bring him along to local discothèques and talent shows. After graduating from college in New York City, he began producing house music, with several of his tracks going on to chart on Billboard.

His DJ sets are rooted in years of meticulous research and record collecting, blending rare Italian and Italo disco discoveries with familiar, uplifting tracks built for the dance floor. Many of the records he plays have been carefully restored and digitized from vinyl in his own studio. His performances can also incorporate archival visuals from Italian television of the 1970s and ’80s, transforming the DJ set into a broader cultural experience.

Through @disco_bambino, Savoni has introduced the worlds of Italian disco, library music, film scores, television, and visual culture to an audience of more than 400K followers, including leading figures across fashion, art, music, design, and film.

His platform spotlights the extraordinary creative output of Italy between 1977 and 1984, rediscovering overlooked artists, performances, records, and cultural moments for a new global audience. As a producer, he brings that same archival instinct into the studio, reimagining forgotten Italian and Italo disco gems through a contemporary lens. His recent single, “Dancing Without You,” features disco legend Nile Rodgers and pop icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Savoni also co-founded Italian Disco Stories, a multimedia publication dedicated to in-depth storytelling and analysis of disco culture in Italy and across Europe.

Driven by a constant search for the unexpected in music, design, fashion, and visual culture, Disco Bambino has become a sought-after presence across the worlds of fashion, art, and design. He has performed for Chanel, Fendi, Gucci, and LVMH; at institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Triennale Milano, the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, and Lincoln Center; and at major international events including Montreux Jazz Festival, Locus Festival, and the Paris Olympics.
