Since its founding in 2005, Winter Jazzfest has cemented a reputation as a hotbed of cultural discovery, presenting new and exciting sounds and scenes throughout New York.

Brooklyn institution the Reverend Vince Anderson and the Love Choir bring their Dirty Gospel to the Sawdust stage, followed by a DJ set at the intersection of African, Latin-American, and electronic music from Salt Cathedral's Nico Losada.

Brooklyn-based composer, musician, and producer Faten Kanaan brings her modern minimalism counterpoint to the National Sawdust stage with an opening improvised set from JJJJJerome Ellis on hammered dulcimer, tenor saxophone, piano, electronics, and voice.

French pianist Sofiane Pamart, a.k.a. ‘Piano King,’ has made a name for himself by bridging the traditionalist western classical world and the always-innovating realm of hip-hop. Pamart’s collaborations with rappers like Koba LaD, Vald, Joey Starr, and more have helped piano music shed its staid facade and become more accessible to new listeners.

Atlanta's very own post-punks Algiers hit the National Sawdust stage on December 15th. The cult band pulls from a sprawling lineage of rap and punk, building their sound out of the cross-pollination of urban and counter-culture styles.

This “Musicians as Activists” panel will feature tap dancer and choreographer Michela Marino Lerman and Love Movement’s music director Russell Hall. Lerman and Hall are two of the founding members of The Blacksmiths, a coalition of artist-activists that formed in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder to use the arts to support direct action and civic engagement in service of Black liberation and equity.
